- ★ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆I fired John for these factual reasons: 16 months ago I received a letter from the IRS stating I had to pay a 2k+ penalty for filing late. John claimed the taxes weren't late and said he'd contact the IRS and take care of it. I forgot about the matter. 3 months ago, I received another letter and a 300.00 penalty for filing late this year. So I called the IRS, and discovered the previous 2k penalty and filing issue was never resolved and was now in collection. Turns out that Bob never filed an extension for 2013 and filed the 2014 extension 5 months late. He also filed the business tax returns one month after the extension deadline both years. He claims he contacted the IRS about 2013, but the IRS says they have never heard from him. They have no record of any correspondence or phone calls. So after 3k in penalties, lies about his filing on time and trying to mitigate the fine with the IRS, as well as finishing my taxes the day before filing (and I asked for enough time for a review each year), I lost faith in his ability and integrity. Since the quality of the tax preparation is now also a concern, I've had to hire a third party to review my previous two year filings.By Ben Rogers, August 24, 2017
